Venice off the main canals We arrived at Venice a little after noon and made the short ten-minute walk from the train station to our lodgings, which were thankfully located well away from the main tourist area. “Well away from” doesn’t really take far to accomplish in Venice, however. 90% of tourists seem to stick to just a couple of the streets and, of course, cram onto the public transport in Venice. I travel as much as I possibly can. I studied abroad in Mexico, Costa Rica, and France, and so far my husband and I have visited about a third of the U.S. National Parks.
